How can we help you?
Regency Medical offers services to support drivers with their licence and licence-renewal requirements.
The taxi medical consists of the doctor going through the medical form and your last 5-years of medical records. The medical records can be obtained from your NHS GP surgery by asking for the last 5-year summary. Alternatively they may provide you with their online access thus the records can be viewed. Another option would be to use the NHS app if you have full access (preferred option).
Under recent government guidance it has been widely publicised that “Immediate action is required by general practices to ensure that they are ready for the planned change in November 2022, and their clinical system is updated to allow prospective (future) record access to patients.” This relates to getting full access to your health records on the NHS app or your surgery online access.
You can download the NHS app from this link if you haven’t already done so.
The eye test is done using a Snellen Chart during this medical. If you wear glasses please bring them with you. If there has been considerable changes to your vision, then we would recommend your vision to be tested by an optician prior to any booking with us.
If you are a new resident and do not have the last 5-years NHS records, then English translated records may be required from your home country. If full records are not available a medical certificate to confirm the status of your health from a registered physician from your home country will be accepted by some local authorities. Please check with you local licensing office before making an appointment.
The cost of the medical is payable by card, cash, or bank transfer.
Please bring the following with you to the appointment:
- The medical form to be completed for the area you are wishing to obtain a taxi licence.
- Any correspondence relating to the taxi medical from your local authority.
- Last 5-years medical records either in printed form, access to the full NHS app records, or access to your online surgery notes.
- Your Driver’s Licence.
- Your spectacles (if you wear one).
Face-to-face medicals are held at the Portsmouth clinic from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and by appointment only.
